Vasaris, the Fuzzy Dragon [userpic]
I've got a question

Does it negate all of a House's House Points when their Head of House murders the headmaster?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Someone on Journalfen pointed out in one of the HP wanks (and there are a lot of them, aren't there?) that we don't know who won the house cup this year, not that anyone cares, really, but I just had the stray thought wondering if murdering the Headmaster immediately negates all of a House's points.

Professor McGonnagal's face was thunderous. "Severus Snape murdered the Headmaster! ALEPH-1 POINTS FROM SLYTHERIN!"

Just sayin'.

I'd say so...

I don't know if she meant to do it, or if I'm giving JKR too much credit, but I liked the symbolism of seeing the Gryffindor rubies falling onto the floor. Blood, and the unimportance of winning the house cup... it made me smile.

Re: I'd say so...

Yeah. It's kind of like a moment where it all becomes real and not the, well, bullshit of the House competition. I won't say it made me smile, exactly, but it was a nice moment.

Yeah, when I was looking for something random to say in H_E chat the other day I just screamed out that I wanted to know who won the House Cup in HBP. Everyone laughed, a Slytherin said that it was Slytherin of course, and then we all moved on.

The point being, it doesn't matter.

Well, I don't really want to know who won -- it was just this curious thought that passed through my head... Sort of, "Well, if there's an action that deserves the docking of house points, killing the headmaster is *it*"
