Vasaris, the Fuzzy Dragon [userpic]

Why in the universe would anyone decide that replacing Calgary, AB with Tacoma, WA would be a legitimate way to indicate where their goods were going?

I don't get it.

I might have been fooled (as I'm not terribly familiar with Tacoma) if, oh, there'd been a US Zip Code, but as it stands... *skritches head*

What was the point of that? I'm so confused.

Oh, yes: Quote of the Day from Monday--
"I don't understand, why won't Customs let me spend the night there?"
-- poor dude who thought he could go to Canada, buy a $20,000 truck, and just drive it back across the border with no issues regarding duty, taxes, or -- sadly -- EPA regulations.

The reponse of 'They don't know you from Adam and, honestly, you could have a bunch of bombs or something.' did not satisfy him. He just asked why they wouldn't just check his truck out and then let him stay indefinitely.

*boggles* You can't leave backpacks unattended at airports (although staying for a few days is probably feasible, if ill advised), why would they allow a semi truck to sit around a port of entry indefinitely?
